Lithuania wins Global Health Tourism Award at ITB Berlin 2025

Health tourism is on the rise globally, and Lithuania has emerged as a leader, earning the prestigious ITB Health Tourism Award 2025. Presented by ITB Berlin, the world’s largest tourism exhibition, this award recognises Lithuania’s excellence in medical and wellness services, sustainability, and international collaboration.

“This honour proves that Lithuania competes with Europe’s top resorts and is now a global innovator in health tourism,” says Olga Gončarova, General Manager of Lithuania Travel.

With a deep-rooted wellness tradition—dating back to the 18th century in resorts like Druskininkai, Birštonas, and Palanga—Lithuania blends historical healing methods with modern standards. These historic spa towns are famous for their mineral waters and therapeutic mud treatments, herbal medicine, and saunas deeply embedded in Lithuanian culture, while many local wellness centres are certified by EuropeSpa med, ensuring high quality and transparency.

In 2024, Lithuania hosted the ESPA Congress and won several ESPA Innovation Awards. Media outlets like Forbes and Lonely Planet praised its wellness offerings.
