The most recent and exciting event: Kaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022 program and events’ calendar are already announced!
The grand opening of Kaunas 2022 is scheduled for January 22, 2022. Around 40 festivals, over 60 exhibitions, more than 250 stage events and above 250 concerts will take place in Kaunas and Kaunas District in 2022 involving worldwide known artists. Among the famous names – the conceptual and performance artist, philanthropist and writer Marina Abramovic, multimedia artist and peace activist Yoko Ono and one of the world’s most influential contemporary artists William Kentridge. The city will become one big European stage of culture and art.
The theme of Kaunas 2022 is a grand and unified drama performance that gives meaning of the awakening of the city and its people. The whole project is focused on strengthening of communality, promoting art, science and design innovation, building the identity of the city and opening it to Europe.
